Golden Feather Union Elementary School District (formed July 1, 1962 by Big Bar, Cherokee, Concow, and Messilla Valley) is a unique entity nestled in the foothills of rural Butte County. The district operates Concow Elementary School (Kindergarten through Eighth Grade) housed at the Spring Valley campus and the Golden Feather Pool. District employees are proud that our staff knows each student!
Since 2016, the following has created a better experience for students in our rural district:
- Brought an abandoned school site back to life post Camp Fire.
- Implemented a 1:1 student to device ratio
- Common Core English language arts and math curriculum adoption
- Reducing suspension rates by implementing an academic and behavioral reassignment program
- New physical education program
- New schoolwide reading intervention
- New electives including band, personal finance, Spanish, and more!
- Full PBIS implementation
- New playground structure
- Golden Feather Pool remodel with a new vision for the site!
